Hungary is a romantic Eastern European country with an impressive sporting and cultural legacy.
No visit to Hungary would be complete without visiting the stunning capital Budapest, which straddles the mighty River Danube. Attractions include the famous Gellert and Széchenyi thermal baths, the neo-gothic Parliament House, the cobbled Buda Castle district and much more.
Hungary transitioned from a Communist system in the early 1990s, though nods to its sometimes difficult past are still apparent in Budapest, not least at the impressive House of Terror museum which details the troubled times of post-WWII Hungary.
Modern Hungary is an unqualified delight though; the cuisine is hearty and delicious (you simply must try some goulash), while the nightlife of Budapest has earned an impressive and well-deserved reputation.
One trip to Hungary will give you a taste – after that you'll want to keep coming back!
